It’s all about the kids…and the kid in all of us!
What happens when you put a menopausal grandma and a two year old together for 3 days? It’s a total battle of the “don’t mess with me” minds.
Over the weekend we took our grandson, Colton, for a Friday and Saturday night sleepover (part of my son’s birthday gift…free babysitting, yea!!). Colton turns 2 on St. Patrick’s Day and I gotta say, the signs of those dreaded terrible twos are all there.
He’s turned a corner the past two weeks. Everything is now “no, no, no” and “mine, mine, mine” (as he hugs my lipgloss that I need to put on before we go out to dinner he could care less about). He’s more hard headed and stubborn than I am, and that’s very very stubborn. What the heck happened to my sweet little grandson? LOL!
So the little guy and I got into a meeting of the minds quite a bit this weekend. Grandma gets a little grumpy when she’s in a hurry to get ready to go out and chasing after him for a tube of lip gloss was not my idea of fun (at the moment at least..).
In the end I won the battle and got my lip glass back, but Colton retaliated by running off with my purse. He’ll never know this, but I cracked up when that happened.
My kid’s terrible twos just weren’t that awful as I remember, but I have the feeling we’re in for the long haul with little Colton.
I think he’s met his match in me though (or so I’ll make him think)!
Any ideas on how to handle the “no”no”no” and “mine”mine”mine” would be very much appreciated. Please! Your comments would be much appreciated.
Hubby and I take him for an overnighter at least once a week and I think he’s getting the better of us (LOL).
Whew…I’m exhausted.
